Your Dad Did is designed to be a highly readable, irreverent, provocative, insightful and most of all fun blog on fatherhood and being a dad.
That’s the plan, anyway. Like a lot about fatherhood, though, we’ll occasionally deviate from the plan, if not scrap it entirely. YDD will, however, be authored and curated by a team of dads with a unique array of perspectives and strong points of view.
How will we present that to you, our audience? Well, with the conversational aspects of the e-mails, tweets and Facebook messages we swap among ourselves and with our buddies. We’ll also utilize a more formal structure, with characteristics and standing features of several blog properties we like and that speak to readers similar to you.
YDD‘s contributors represent a variety of dad archetypes. We have a couple of suburban dads, a couple of urban hipster dads, an African-American dad, a dad with an older kid, a dad with a newborn on the way, dads with toddlers, dads who lean liberal politically, dads who are conservative, dads on both U.S. coasts, dads in different tax brackets.
What we all share is the immense pride we take in the work we do as dads, even as that work bumps up against some of the other pressures we face as parents and professionals. None of us thinks we have this stuff figured out. At all. But if nothing else, we’ll do our best to find the absurdist humor in the endeavor.
